Jacqui Frazier is the boxer daughter of smoking Joe the legendary heavyweight champion who lost his battle to liver cancer at the age of 67, like her father Jackie has boxing blood in her veins, but what else do you know about her?
Joe Frazier was a legend of boxing his eternal feud with Muhammad Ali is remember by fans from all ages, once Joe said he no longer held hard feelings towards Ali, and when Ali heard about Joe’s tragic death, he said..
“The world has lost a great champion. I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration.”
But what made him so special, was he so freaking great? Hell yeah! but he was also an amazing person, friend and father of his children, they are Marvis, Weatta, Jo-Netta, Natasha, Hector, Marcus and our dear Jacqui.
Born Jacqueline Jacqui Frazier-Lyde on December 2nd, 1962 in Beufort , South Carolina to Joe Frazier and Florence Smith Frazier, her parents met while both where teenagers he was 14 she 16 they got married on 1965 and filed for divorce on 1985.
48 year-old Jacqui was voted class president, Best Personality and Most Likely to Succeed in high school, after that she got her B.A in Justice from the American University in Washington, D.C. and in 1989 her law degree from Villanova University in Pennsylvania she speaks Spanish and French fluently, while at college she joined the softball and basketball and lacrosse teams.
She worked as her father’s lawyer but at age 38 she announced she would join the world of professional boxing.
Jacqui Frazer earned the nickname Sister Smoke where she began the feud her father had with Ali, by challenging his daughter Laila Ali, they finally faced each other 2001 at the event called Ali-Frazier IV by Pay per View, Ali won when she send a killer punch on Frazer’s jaw during the eight round
After that match and without the possibility of a rematch Jacqui won the WIBA Light Heavyweight title, she resumed her career as a boxer with a record of 13 wins 9 by KO and 1 loss. These days Jacqui Frazer can be found working as a Municipal Court Judge in Philadelphia.
Back on 2007 her father sued Jacqui when she refused to hand over some legal documents, contracts and other financial records when she worked as Joe’s lawyer at his gym, not long after he dropped the suit when Jacqui promised him to help him place all of the documents.
As for her personal life as far as I know she married Peter Lyde who was also her manager, they had a son together Peter Jr., Sable, and John-Joseph. I can’t tell you if they added more children to their family or if they are still together, but feel free to contribute to the story!!!
We send our thoughts and payers to Jacqui Frazer, the rest of her family, friends and fans throughout this difficult time
