Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born on August 9th, 1963 in Newark, New Jersey, to John Russell Houston a veteran in the army and entertainment executive and Cissy Houston a gospel singer, Whitney was the second child of three children.
Whitney’s steps into music started at an early age, thanks to her mother Cissy and the choir at their church where 11 year-old Whitney sang and play the piano, she would also sang with her mother at night clubs where one night Gerry Griffith from Arista Records saw her and was so impressed that asked Arista’s honcho Clive Davis to hear the young singer.
Whitney Houston singed with Arista in 1983, two years later her first album Whitney Houston was released, she closed 1984 by winning her first Grammy award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, plus two American Music Awards. Two years later her second album Whitney was released, that same year she received three nominations at the Grammys, she won her second Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and two more American Music Awards. In 1990 her third album I’m Your Baby Tonight was released. Soon she would her debut in the big screen.
That debut came in 1992 along Kevin Costner in The Bodyguard, a movie where she sang her song I Will Always Love You became a major success until this day. Three years later she starred as Savannah Jackson in Waiting to Exhale along Denzel Washington and as Julia Biggs in the 1996 film The Preacher’s Wife a role that granted an award at the 1997 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture, the soundtrack for the movie was produced by Whitney and Babyface. Also in 1996 her fourth album My Love is Your Love was released. In 1997 she starred next to Brandy in the television film Cinderella. In 2000 was the worldwide released of her album Whitney: Greatest Hits. Just Whitney her fourth Album in 2002 a year later her first Christmas album was released. Her 2009 record I Look To You sold 350.000 copies. She won one of the two nominations at the 2010 NAACP Image Awards and received a BET Honors lifetime Achievement award. Whitney Houston will starred as Emma in the 2012 film Sparkle along Jordin Sparks, Mike Epps, Cee Lo Green and Derek Luke, the movie will be released on August 2012.
Whitney’s relationship with Bobby Brown began in the late 80’s early 90’s after they met at the 1989 Soul and Train Music Awards, they dated for a couple of years before getting married in July 18th 1992, a year later she became the proud mother of her daughter Bobbi Kristina Houston Brown. We all know Whitney’s drug and weight struggles, her on and off relationship with Bobby Brown until their divorce in 2006, two years after they starred in their reality show Being Bobby Brown. Whitney divorce was finalized on April 24th. 2007, she had custody of her daughter Bobbie Kristina. Bobby tried to gain custody of their daughter and requested spousal and child support but he it was never granted to him. Early this year it was reported she was broke after spending her $100M fortune, it was also revealed she was approached to be a judge as the X Factor.
Whitney Houston died of an unknown cause at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at about 3:55 p.m the announcement was released by her publicist Kevin Foster, TMZ and other media reported that witnesses said Whitney showed erratic behavior and was seen partying hard with friends at the Hilton Hotel, at the moment of her death paramedics were called by the hotel who found her unresponsive at the her room and perform CPR on her, but she was gone.
