Death continues to take away another music legend this time it was Adam Yach one of the members of my favorite music band The Beastie Boys, Adam is survived by his daughter and beloved wife Dechen Wangdu.
47 year-old Adam Yauch from Brooklyn, New York was one of the founding members of the music band the Beastie Boys along Adam Horovitz, Michael Diamond, Adam was diagnosed with cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node in 2009, he underwent treatment and surgery, he loss his battle to cancer on May 4th, 2012 at the age of 47.
Yauch met his wife Dechen Wangdu in 1995 when both were among the audience at a speech at Harvard University by the Dalai Lama, Dechen was born in the united Stated to Tibetan activist. like her parents Mrs. Wangdu is highly involved in free right organizations such as Free Tibet, the U.S. Tibet Committee, and the Tibetan Women’s Association.
Yauch and Dechen dated for three years before they got married on May 31st, 1998 in New York in a Tibetan ceremony, Rancid performed at their wedding reception. The couple joined activists forces and in 98’ he produced the documentary Free Tibet where Dechen was featured.
Wangdu also was featured in an article at Glamour magazine as well as with Tibet Freedom Concert magazines. Dechen and Adam are the proud parents of their gorgeous 14 year-old daughter Tenzin Losel Yauch birn on September 30th 1998, whose voice is audible at the end of the song Sahazam (To the 5 Boroughs) she said I’m Gonna Tell On You”.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dechen, Losel other members of her family, friends and fans, Adam is truly miss, but his memory will live forever.
