Yesterday the world lost a great athlete, Mark Lenzi the U.S Olympic diver died suddenly after suffering from faints spells and low blood pressure, he was 43. He is survived by his dear mother Ellie,siblings grandmother Mary Cochran and beloved wife Dorothy Jean Koncsol Lenzi
43 year-old Mark Lenzi was born in Huntsville, Alabama. He attended Indiana University and began his athletic career first as a wrestler, although he loved it, the strict diet was not somuch fun, he left wrestling and made his way into diving making it into the U.S Olympic team in 1989 at age 21. He won his first gold medal at the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba then again on 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. Lenzi won a silver medal at the 1992 World Aquatics Championships and bronze at the 1996 Olympics Games in Atlanta. After he retired he settled in North Carolina with his beautiful wife Dorothy Lenzi and became a diving coach at East Carolina University.
On March 28th 2012 he was hospitalized after suffering fainting spells caused because his blood pressure fell to 78/48 when it normally should be 120/80, he had been taking medicine for heart ailment. Mark died on April, 9th, 2012. His funeral and viewing will be held today at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Greensville from 6 to 8pm.
Dorothy Jean Koncsol Lenzi got married to Mark on July 31st 2004 in Las Vegas, she is originally from Twinsburg. Ohio.
