Benjamin Colton Barnes was the Iraq war veteran who was been wanted for the homicide of park ranger Margaret Anderson, that was until he apparently killed himself
24year-old Benjamin Colton Barnes was the Iraq war veteran believed to be the man who shot Mount Rainier National Park ranger Margaret Anderson killing and injuring 4 at a house party near Seattle, two of them remained in critical condition.
Benjamin Barnes open fired at a party after an argument over a gun escaladed, apparently several people at the part were carrying guns. Barnes injured 4 people two critically. It is believed he has been suffering from post traumatic stress disorder ever since his deployment in Iraq on 2007- 2008, his baby baby mama who had a restraining order against him after he showed to be easily angry depressed and violent adding that he also kept weapons at the house.
It seems Benjamin Colton Barnes sped up at a park checkpoints were Rangers where checking if the vehicles were carrying wheels chains, when 34 year-old park ranger Margaret Anderson tried to stop him using her SUV to block the pass on Benjamin Colton’s car, he did stop but open fire wounding Margaret who tragically died at the scene. Response teams couldn’t get to her because Colton Barnes kept shooting at them.
Once they managed to approached they search his car, finding weapons, body armor and a survival kit, a special team was send to hunt him but Barnes who has been highly survival skills made impossible for them to find him.
Nearly a day after the hunt for Benjamin Colton Barnes started SWAT team found his body lying face down in the snow, apparently he died after trying to walk into through chest-deep snow. Margaret Anderson has been working as a ranger for four years, she and her husband Eric Anderson anotherparkl ranger have two daughters.
