86-year-old Andy Griffith was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina to Geneva and Carl Lee Griffith. his parents were so poor  that during his infant year he had to sleep in drawers, love  however was never missing in their household.

Mr. Griffith attended Mount Airy high School, after changing his mind about becoming a Moravian preacher he enrolled at the University Of North Carolina in Chapel hill where he graduated with  bachelor in music degree.

We all remember his authentic sense of humor from the Andy Griffith Show, but he also appeared in over 15 films plus television and music. In 1999 he was inducted in the Country gospel Music Hall and  at the Christian Music Hall in 2007.

Andy got first married on August, 1949 to  his first wife was Barbara Edwards; the had two children Sam Griffith (deceased. 1996 at the age of 40), Dixie Nan (a singer). The couple divorced in 1972. In 1975 he got married to his second wife Solica Cassuto but divorced in 1982.

In 1983 while Andy was filming Murder in Coweta County with Johnny Cash, he met Cindi Knight who portrayed Julia Turner. She was a former teacher turned actress  starred as a secretary for two episodes at the television series Matt Houston before appearing in Coweta County and  was dancer at The Lost Colony

Andy was 56 at the time while Cindi was 27, it took some time for her to know him and fall madly in love for him.

They got married a few months after on April 12, 1983 in Roanoke. This same year just two months after their wedding he was diagnosed with Guillen-Barre syndrome a disorder that affects the nervous syndrome, left him paralyzed for almost seven months.

“I couldn’t walk for some eight months. When I did walk, it was with braces. I don’t know how I could have made it without Cindi. She was by my side.”

68-year-old Cindi Knight aka Cindi Griffith and her adoring husband wife had no children, they lived in Roanoke Island.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her, Dixie Nan, other members of their family, friends and loyal fans during this sad time.
