Jessica Buchanan finally reunited with her husband Erik Landemalm after been held hostage by Somali pirates for three months that Erik said were Three months of hell.
Erik Landemalm a Project Officer from Denmark worked for the Christian association Diakonia met his wife 32 year-old Jessica Buchannan in Africa, Jess a Ohio native and Valley Forge University, Christian college in Phoenixville, Pa graduate who fell in love with Africa. In 2007 she moved there and became a teacher (1st and 6th graders) at Nairobi’s Rosslyn Academy in 2007, the following year she was a 4th grade teacher.
In 2009 she and Erik relocated to Hargeisa, Somalia where Mr. Landemalm served as Project Officer for the Association of European Parliamentarians With Africa. He has also served as International Consultant from 2009 to 2010 and project Officer on 2011.
Erik posted the following comment on his Facebook page.
“This morning, after going through three months of hell with Somali pirates, my amazing wife was saved by the American military and she is now in safety!”.
“Words cannot describe the joy and relief we feel! Thank you to all that have helped and apologies to all our friends I haven’t shared this with. This a day of Happiness!” Erik Landemalm wrote on his Facebook in Swedish
His beautiful wife is the eldest daughter of John Buchanan and the late Marilyn Buchannan, her sister is Amy married to Andrew Mathe and her brother is Stephen Buchanan. She was kidnapped last October, Navy SEAL team six rescued her and colleague Poul Thisted on Tuesday, she is currently in Italy with her family that includes her beloved father and dear husband Erik Landemalm.
