Rudy Eugene is today called the Miami cannibal, Miami Zombie but his girlfriend said that was not Rudy, the man she lived with, dated for the past couple of years and the man who was usually carrying a bible, but who is she? What is the name of Rudy Eugene’s Girlfriend and why did she decided to talk to media? Her name was revealed months later as the one of Rikkia Cross.
Unfortunately Rudy Eugene’s girlfriend asked media not to reveal her name or to show her face, but she did talked about her live-in boyfriend who was killed this week after he was found naked chewing on Ronald Poppo’s face. Rudy’s girlfriend decided to came up public, her name is Rikkia Cross.
While there are no words to described what Eugene did but as taken from a zombie movie, raw, disturbing, insane act of cannibalism, his girlfriend came in his defense and she said yes that man shot in the MacArthur causeway is Rudy is his body she said but it was not his soul.
“That wasn’t him, that was his body but it wasn’t his spirit. Somebody did this to him. He loved God he always read the Bible he would give you knowledge on the Bible. Everywhere he went his Bible went. When he left he had his Bible in his hand.”
Rikkia added that her boyfriend was not a zombie, he was a loving, hard working man, he worked at a car wash and hope to open his own business. She also said that they had been dating on and off for the past five years.
While she said that he smoke pot, he did not go other drugs, she is sure Rudy was either drugged or possessed. Rikkia Cross is not Haitian and never believed in voodoo until now.
Ms. Cross said the morning he left their home, she was awaken by the noise he made when he was rummaging in her closet at about 5:30 a.m he told her he was going to see a homeboy, but didn’t tell her who it was. He gave her a kiss told her he loved her and left, she locked the door and went back to sleep.
I told him be safe and I love you too. When he walked out the door I closed it, locked it and went back to sleep,’
She received a call from him at about 11:00 a.m telling her his car broke down.
“He called me and told me his car broke down. He said, “I’ll be home, but I’m going to be a little late.” Then he said, “I love you and I’ll be back,”
Rikkia recalled watching about the cannibal attack on the news, but did not know it was her beau, she did on Monday at about 11 when her in-laws called her to tell her he was dead..
“I immediately started to scream,’’ she said. “I don’t know when I hung up the phone, I was hysterical,” she told the Herald.
But it was not until the afternoon, when she left her home to grieve with the rest of Eugene’s family in North Miami Beach, that she heard even worse news: The man everyone was calling the ‘Miami Zombie’ was Rudy.
“That’s not Rudy, that’s not Rudy. I’ll never be the same,”
