Two shooters wounded two children at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, The shooter who died at the scene has been identified as Adam P. Lanza. 24 fatalities have been reported 20 of those were children.
Children were evacuated from Sandy Hook Elementary School now in lockdown, while three people were hospitalized, multiple deaths have been reported including Adam Peter Lanza the shooter.
According to the Courant one of the shooters was at the main office at about 9:40 a.m one person believe to be the school’ principal with several gunshot wounds was found there, children said there was broken glass scattered on the floor, police officers checking everybody inside the school before they were escorted to the firehouse.
“Due to reports of a shooting as yet unconfirmed, the district is taking preventive measures by putting all schools in lockdown until we ensure the safety of all students and staff,” Newton Public School District secretary of superintendent Kathy June said in a statement.
By 10:30 almost all of the children had been evacuated from the school, but some were still inside, by 10:45 police with heavy artillery were guarding the school premises. Two children wounded was seen with a wounded hand and the other with a bloody face.
The Hartford Courant reported many people including children were killed, multiple people were injured including a teacher and children were taken to Danbury Hospital.
Sandy Elementary school has 46 faculty member and 626 students enrolled in kindergarten through 4th grade classes.
The shooter was identified as Adam Peter Lanza from Hartford who carried two handguns a Sig Sauer and a Glock legally bought by his mother plus a .223-caliber assault rifle outside the school. People who knew Nancy Lanza said she was a gun collector and was very responsible with them. (Adam Lanza is seen in the photo below taken in 2005)
20-year-old Adam Peter Lanza was born on April 22nd, 1992 in Kingston, New Hampshire. in lived with his mother Nancy whose body was found dead at their home with a gunshot wound in the head, it is believe Nancy (Nee. Champion) worked at Sandy Hook Elementary, we were told she was a school aide, she divorced her sons’ father Peter John Lanza an accountant in 2009 when Adam was 17 , he now lives not far from his ex-wife with his new wife Shelley Cudiner.
At first Adam’s 24-year-old brother Ryan Lanza was identified as the shooter probably because Adam stole Ryan’s ID and was carrying it with him, when he heard about it he posted a bunch of Facebook messages denying his involvement in this horrible crime.
Ryan who was at work in Manhattan, has no criminal record, he has been working at the same place for the past 4 years, at the Ernst and Young’s tax practice. He lives in Hoboken, NJ.
Ryan Lanza who was being questioned by police said his brother suffered from a ”personality disorder and be somewhat autistic” but very smart graduated from high school three years later. Adam graduated in 2010 from Newtown High School.
“He always seemed like a quiet type. He was never really sociable. When you try to communicate with him, he would just kind of like have one- or two-word responses. He was a wicked smart kid, he excelled in everything,” the man said. “He graduated high school three years early.”
Lanza’s killing rampage took 28 lives, 20 children between the ages of 4 and 10, 6 adults including Dawn Hochsprung the principal, school psychologist March Sherlach, Vicki Soto a first grade teacher who used her body to cover her students , Adam Lanza turned the gun on himself.
NBC News reported that Adam Lanza was not carrying two guns as initially reported but four, they added that on the 11th of December Adam tried to purchased a rifle at a sporting goods shop in Denver CT but was denied due to the fact there is a waiting period to own a gun in the state of Connecticut.
Two days after that on the 13th of December Adam Lanza had an argument with 4 staff members at Sandy Elementary, the nature of that altercation is still unknown.
