Susan Clark Karras, the loving wife of former NFL player and Webster’s actor Alex Karras is along her daughter Katie some members of the family that survived the famous actor, who passed away on October 10, 2012 at the age of 77.
72-year-old Susan Clark was born Nora Golding on March 8, 1940 in Ontario, Canada to George Golding and Eleanor Almond McNaughton.
Susan or Nora grew up in Ontario and attended Northern Secondary School (where films like Resident evil and Carrie were filmed). She began acting when she was 12 around that same time Susan joined the Toronto Children’s Players Theatre and make her acting debut when she was 15 in 1955 along Dom Ameche in “Silk Stockings”.
Mrs. Karras then moved to the UK and enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London appearing in the 1960 Poor Bitos, three years later she landed on her first television role as Phillippa in The Sentimental Agent, then starred as Helen Silbey in Bob Hope Presents The Chrysler Theatre also in 1967 she appeared in the t.v series the Virginian as Melanie Kohler and as Cynthia Linus in Banning and in Run For your Life as Kathryn Aller.
1968 we saw Susan Karras in Mandigan (Tricia Bentley), Coogan’s Bluff (Julie) and in the movie adapted for television Something for a Lonely Man as Mary Duren. The following year (1969) she laid low and worked only in Tell Them Willie Boy is Here as Dr. Elizabeth Arnold. and Ruth Ann Adams in Marcus Welby, M.D.
1970 she starred as Cat Burroughs in the t.v movie The Challengers also as Dr. Sybil Greame in Skullduggery as Dr. Cleo Markham in Colossus: The Forbid Project.
1971 Susan gave life to Gay Erin in Valdez is Coming and to Ginger in Skin Game in television she starred as Ellen McKay in The Bold Ones: The Lawyers and Beth Chadwick in Columbo.
1972 she starred as along Anthony Hopkins as Janice Morrow in Poet Game, Ruth Ann Adams in Marcus Welby, M.D. and Gail Randolph in The Astronaut.
1973 along Rock Hudson in the Showdown as Kate Jarvis, Trapped as Elaine Moore. In 1974 starred as Linda Thorpe in The Midnight Man and Karen Maybury in Barbany Jones.
In 1975 in the drama film Airplane as Helen Patroni along Charlton Heston, Ellen Moseby in Night Moves and Magnolia Dusty Clydesdale in the Apple Dumpling Gang. Susan closed this year by meeting the man of her dreams her beloved husband Alex Karras who portrayed her husband in the film Babe.
1976 we saw Susan in McNaughton’s Daughter and as Amelia Earhart in the t.v movie by the same name
1978 and 1979 as Mary Kelly in Murder By Decree and as Anne in the North Avenue Irregulars.
1980 as Fran Koenig in Promises in the Dark, as Paula West in Double Negative and Kay Clements in the t.v film The Choice. Also in 1980 Susan became Susan Karras when she got married to Alex on March 21, 1980.
1981, 1982 a she appeared in Porky’s as Cherry Forever and her hubby starred as Sheriff Wallace.
From 1983 until 1989 we saw Susan and Alex Karras as Katherine Calder and George Papadaoolis along Emmanuel Lewis in the television series that make them famous Webster.
1991 as Meredith Hellman in Murder She Wrote and Muriel Mulligan in Snowbound: The Jim and Jennifer Stolpa Story in 1994.
Susan Clark Karras’ last work was as Aunt Elizabeth Murray in the television series Emily Of New Moon. Susan’s nickname is Ma’am, she and Alex attended at the HARC Foundation’s 20th anniversary celebration.
Before Susan got married to Alex in 1980 she tied the knot to Bob Joseph in 1970 when she was 30, they divorced in 1973. Susan and Mr. Karras had one child together 32-year-old Katie Karras full name is Katherine M. Karras their beautiful daughter born on January 31, 1980.
He had 4 eldest children from his first marriage to Joan Jurgensen (m. 1958; divorced in 1975).
Alex a former NFL player with the Detroit Lions was diagnosed with Dementia at the age of 70, he also suffered from cancer and heart disease.
He died at his Los Angeles home surrounded by his family in the early hours of Wednesday October 10, 2012
