Levon Helm the famous drummer for The Band passed away in NY, after he lost his battle to cancer, he is survived by his adorable and talented daughter Amy and beloved wife Sandy Helm.
71 year-old Levon Helm was born Mark Lavon Helm in Marvell, Arkansas to Diamond and Nell Helm. His skills in multiple musical instruments made Mr. Helm one of the best Rock N’ Roll artist in history. His beginning in music began with Ronnie Hawks’ band The Hawks, The Band later on and his solo career, he released his solo album Ramble at the Ryman, the album received a Grammy Award for Best Americana Album.
The Announcement of his battle with cancer was released on his website by his wife sandy Helm and the couple’s daughter Amy..

Thank you fans and music lovers who have made his life so filled with joy and celebration… he has loved nothing more than to play, to fill the room up with music, lay down the back beat, and make the people dance! Levon Helm died two days later at the Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center in New York. a note was posted by Mrs. Helm,
Levon Helm passed peacefully this afternoon. He was surrounded by family, friends and band mates and will be remembered by all he touched as a brilliant musician and a beautiful soul.
There is little info about Mr. Helms’ caring wife Sandy, who in case you didn’t know is not Amy Helm’s mother her mother is Libby Titus; who dated Levon in the late 80’s Mrs. Titus is a singer, songwriter, actress and concert producer, along Eric Kaz she co-wrote Love has No Pride.
Amy Helm was born on December 30, 1970 in Rhinebeck, to her father Levon Helm and Libby Titus, she had a half sibling Ezra Titus the famous author who died on July, 2009 (an apparent suicide) from her mother’s relationship with Barry Titus. While her parents lived together Amy lived in Woodstock and Los Angeles, after her parents split up, she stayed during the week with her mother in New York, and visit her father on the weekends.
After high school Amy Helm attended college in Madison, Wisconsin where she got her degree in psychology. But Amy could denied the legacy upon her shoulders and the talented genes running thru her veins and soon she was on the stage with her father, in his band The Levon Helm Band along Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams, Jim Weider, Jimmy Vivino, Mike Merritt, Brian Mitchell, Erik Lawrence, Steven Bernstein, Howard Johnson, Byron Isaacs, and Little Sammy Davis. Amy co-produced her father’s 2007 album Dirt Farmer.
Isaacs who played with Amy in her father’s band joined her in their own music conquest, Ollabelle, a folk music group based in New York, also with them is Glenn Patscha (keyboards, vocals, and accordion), Tony Leone (drums, mandolin),Fiona McBain (guitar) Byron in the bass and our dear Amy in the vocals and mandola. The group began playing after the 9/11 attacks.
In 2007 Amy Helm got married to Jay Collins who played the saxophone with her father as well with Gregg Allman, James Hunter, Donals Fagen’s Dukes of September among others. the following Amy and Jay welcomed to heir son Lavon.
