Roxana Sorina Buta was an aspiring actress, who worked as a waitress while her big break came knocking on her door sadly that won’t be happening as she was killed in a hit-run accident in Union Square.
21 year-old Roxana Sorina Buta a student at Hunter College from Romania, came to the United States when she was 11 with her mother 39 year-old Cristina Oprea, On January Roxi Sorina landed her first role role in the comedy play Him at the Cherry Lane Theatre in Greenwich Village along Todd Alan Crain and Jon Fleming where she played Rana. She also has a small role in the short Captain Woody, which in below.
Ms. Sorina Buta’s dreams of becoming an actress when just starting so in order to pay the bill she worked as a waitress at Bar 6, close to Union Square where one night when she was walking to her home located on Jackson Heights, Queens and while crossing the intersection at 14th street, she was hit by a dump truck, the driver drove away. Sorina Buta was rushed to Beth Israel Hospital,where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Her mother expected her daughter’s text each night telling she was home and that she love her, when she didn’t texted her that night Mrs. Oprea thought Roxana felt sleep, but she didn’t hear from the the next day, instead she got a call from a police officer from her daughter’s cell pone, informing about the tragedy.
Sorina Buta’s send a tearful plea to the man that killed her daughter to turn himself in, because when he killed Roxanna, he also killed her.
She’s everything I had — I don’t know how I’m going to go on. When this guy killed my daughter, he basically killed me and her.” Oprea said.
