Judge Salas showed no mercy to Joe Giudice, who was sentenced first. Before he was sentenced he read from a prepared statement. He said “I stand here humiliated before the court and my family and society. I disgraced many people including my wife and four daughters. I take full responsibility for my actions. I promise to be a better person.” The judge told him that he made a lot of mistakes, but that he had a lot to live for. She said if his wife got a prison sentence it would be staggered. Meaning the two would not serve their sentences at the same time, so one could parent their four young daughters. The judge told Giudice that he’s a good father and that his children needed him. Giudice is a citizen of Italy, he came to the US with his family when he was a year old, and never became a US citizen. The judge told him he would certainly face deportation after his sentence is served. Joe Giudice was sentenced to 41 months of prison and two years of supervised probation upon his release. He was also told he would have to repay fraudulent mortgage loans in the amount of $404,000 and he was given a 10 K fine. He also has a forthcoming felony charge of attaining a driver’s license using his brother’s identification, after his own license was suspended after he got a DUI.

Although his attorneys pleaded with the judge before the sentence was imposed, the judge reprimanded Giudice for again trying to mislead the court by providing false information on the court documents. He and his reality star wife Teresa gave false and misleading information about their assets and finances again. The judge said” It’s so hard for me to be lenient with you today, you lie at every turn.” His lawyers even brought up the fact that Giudice’s father died in June of 2014 in the couples front lawn after they had been working on a chicken coup. The judge was not swayed. Teresa Giudice was up next after a long court recess. She read from a statement that she didn’t care about the TV show anymore and her four daughters are  her life, and she needed to be with them. The judge told her that she didn’t think either Giudice have really learned anything from their ordeal, and they had no respect for the court or the law, the judge admonished. Teresa was sentenced to 15 months in a federal prison. She must also serve her sentence before her husband. She must report to federal authorities on January 5, 2015 to begin serving her sentence. She is also responsible for paying bad the fraudulent mortgage loans and was fined 10 K also. The couple have four girls, Gia, Milana,Gabriella and Audriana the oldest Gia is 13.
