37-year-old Cho- Nan Nguyen is not only a classical pianist she is also a painter and composer was born in Hanoi, Vietnam in 1975. Graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts and studied at Manhattan School of Music from 1995 to 1997. that same year her name was among the top ten young artists” of Ho Chi Minh City.
As a painter she is famous for her surreal portraits that captures women from different cultures and ethnicities, her worked was once compared to Frida Khalo’s paintings. She participated in Changing Identity: Recent Work By Women Artists in Vietnam in 2002 along 10 other magnificent Vietnamese female artists.
In 2001 Cho-Nan won the first prize at the Young Artist Concourse organized by the French Embassy and the Vietnamese Fine Art Association in 2001.
