Orthopaedic Surgeons Recommended 5 Tips How to Find the Right Size Shoe and Prevent Shoe Pain

These 5 tips are:

  • Try on shoes at the end of the day

The right time to try on shoes is at the end of the day when your feet swell at the most, so this way can prevent you from buying any shoes unfitted.

  • Limit your heel height

To prevent any shoe pain, if you need to walk a lot or stand a lot, try to avoid shoes with heels higher than 2.25 inch.

  • Leave a half inch space in your shoes

There’s common misunderstanding that the fitted shoes should be just fit, without any space left. In fact, the right fitting shoes should leave half inch space from the longest toe to the end of the shoe.

  • Try shoes with buckle or lace

Do not hesitate to choose at least one with buckle or lace because such shoes would provide the necessary support. You can prepare one pair of Mary Jane shoes which have been recommended by¬†‘Nina Garcia’ in her book ‘the one hundred’.

  • Do not carry too much weight in your handbag

It’s not recommended to carry more than 10% of body weight in your bag. And to balance your weight, you can place heavier items at the lower place of your bag. Another tip is try to carry your bag over your shoulder rather than in the crook of your elbow, but you should switch sides from time to time.
