29-year-old Garret Reid struggle with drug abuse for a couple of years he did admitted about he began smoking weed and drinking alcohol when he was 18, then it was prescription pill Percocet a pain killer, then it was OxyContin and finally cocaine and heroin and by the time he turn 20 he was in rehab.
In 2006 Garrett who was 6’4 weighted only 168 lbs and living on his car, and probably you remember that when he was 24 back on October, 2007 he was involved in a car crash where 55-year-old Louise Hartman was injured, when police arrived at the scene and search Garret’s 2004 Jeep Liberty they found several prescription pills (like pain killers, antidepressants and amphetamines) as well as heroin and syringes, and when he turn himself to begin his 23 month sentence he tried to get prescription pills inside.
It was also rumored that he was a drug dealer in a neighborhood not far from his folks home, it was the same Garret who allegedly talked about it to a probation officer..
“I liked being the rich kid in that area and having my own high-status life. I could go anywhere in the ‘hood. They all knew who I was. I enjoyed it. I liked being a drug dealer.”
Two years after his arrest while he was at Luzerne Garrett pass a drug test and left the center but when he returned he fail the test, It seems that Garrett was fighting with himself and struggling to keep clean.
“I don’t want to die doing drugs. I don’t want to be that kid who was the son of the head coach of the Eagles, who was spoiled and on drugs and OD’d and just faded into oblivion.” Garrett told the judge during his 2007 hearing.
Young Garrett Reid was working at Eagles training camp, helping out the strength and conditioning coaches, sadly on Sunday August 5, he was found dead at his room in Lehigh University. paramedic arrived at the scene after someone made a 911 call around 7:20 a.m, but Garrett was already gone.The cause of his death has not been determined.
Garrett Reid was born on April 13, 1983, the eldest of 4 children Coach Andy Reid and wife Tammy Garrett Reid had, his siblings are brothers Britt (born on April 28, 1985), Spencer (born June 16, 1992), and sister Crosby (March 18, 1988) and Drew Ann(March 9, 1990)
