Michelle Uekman’s 19 year-old son was an amazing, promising backup tight end at the Arkansas Razorbacks, he was majoring in applied exercise science, before that he went to Little Rock Catholic High School. He was found unresponsive on Sunday at about 11:20 a.m at his dorm room, he was rushed to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville where he was pronounced dead at 12:10 p.m. He joined the Razorbacks last August.
His mother Michelle Uekman who is part of the Medical Faculty Staff at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science and her husband Danny Uekman from Little Rock, Arkansas were blessed on June 22, 1992 where they welcomed their adorable son Garrett into their lives, they received the terrible news of her son incident when he was being transported to the hospital, the dean of students and vice provost for academic affairs’ Danny Pugh, Bobby Petrino and Athletic Director Jeff Long were waiting for Michelle and her husband at the hospital.
Loosing a son is a mother’s worst nightmare but Michelle has found strength and released the following statement..
“Our son was living his dream of going to the U of A and playing football for the Razorbacks. He loved his school, his coaches, and his teammates and classmates, and was an influence and inspiration to so many people. We ask for your love and prayers for Garrett, our family and his friends as we all cope with this heavy and painful loss. Meanwhile, we ask for respect and privacy during this time of grief.”
Our thoughts and Prayers go out t Garrett Uekman’s loving mother Michelle and his wonderful father Danny Uekman, other family member and friend thru this terrible, sad time.
