China is celebrating their two gold medals, won by their Olympic swimmer 20-year-old Sun Yang and their young star Ye Shiwen. While we are ecstatic for both of them is this lovely lady who called our attention..
16-year-old Ye Shiwen was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China on March 1st, 1996. Began swimming when she was 6. She is not just China’s youngest swimmer but the fastest, at the 2012 London Summer Olympics where she won the gold medal at the Women’s 400m Individual Medley with a time of 4:28.43 breaking the world record.
Two years ago at the 2010 Chinese Nationals Ye won the gold at the 200m individual medley, that same year she won another gold at the China water Games (200m individual medley) at bronze (400m individual medley).
But she was not over with the gold medals in 2010, took three at the FINA Swimming World Cup (200m individual medley, 400m individual medley, 100 m freestyle), two more at the Asian Games (200m individual medley, 400m individual medley).
Last year she won two gold medals at the Chinese Nationals (200m individual medley, 4x200m freestyle relay) and then again at the World Aquatics championships (200m individual medley). her couach is the great Xu Guoyi.
