She hails from a very religious background with both her parents being evangelical ministers. Here main genre of music when growing up was Gospel music, which influenced her to releasing her first gospel album under her real name Katy Hudson in 2001.
She got the tattoo as a remainder of her upbringing and her religious background. During an interview in 2009, she told Katie Couric “I know I wanted this on me because no matter how much changes around me or how much I change, there’s not really an eraser for this.” She went further to explain that whenever she plaid the guitar, “It stares back right back at me. It’s like “remember, you always came from this, and you can always go back to it.”
Lately she has not spoken about her religious beliefs at all. This tattoo points back to her past and how it has influenced her present life. She admits that she is not what she was born into but she still has her roots. She further goes on to say that, she appreciates it and respects it to the fullest. After the success of her album One Of The Boys she decided to get this tattoo to honor the success of her album. Throughout her albums promotional, tour “Hello Kitty” she used inflatable strawberries as a prop on her stage performances. Whilst explaining the success of here tour she also explained the purpose and the reason of the tattoo.

“This past year and a half have been insane. I’m happy I’ve survived it. I really feel this record was really super-ceded my expectations. It’s been amazing. I didn’t think I would be around the world in one year…I’ve just has so much success with this record beyond what I planned. Katy Perry Sanskrit tattoo 2010
This is a significant tattoo in Katy Perry’s relationship life. Katy and her former fiancé Russell Brand decided to get matching tattoos on their biceps. Their tattoo is in Sanskrit, which is mainly spoken in India, and the tattoo says “Annugacchati pravah” which means go with the flow.
India is very significant to Katy and Russell. Russell proposed to her in 2009 when they were in Jaipur India for their vacation. They then got married In October 2010 under an Indian ceremony. Unfortunately, the couple divorced just after a year of their marriage.
Katy Perry Peppermint tattoo 2011
This time she decided to get a peppermint tattoo on her right ankle to match her strawberry tattoo on her left ankle. The Peppermint tattoo is similar to the straw berry tattoo for it represents her album Teenage dream and California dream tour. The albums name is written in a peppermint font and she used some peppermint themed outfits for her tour. She got this tattoo in November 2011.
The popular magazine The Sun stated that her whole team also got the same tattoo. Tattoo artist Bang Bang traveled with the team for a week and did all the tattoos for the 50 members. Katy also did Bang Bang’s peppermint tattoo on his leg. Katy’s then Husband Russell got a West Ham united tattoo, which was his best soccer team.

This is her latest tattoo, which she got on January 2012. She got an outline of a lotus tattoo on her wrist. She is yet to explain the significance of this tattoo to the media.

Katy Perry plans to have a new tattoo to celebrate her upcoming “Prism” world tour which will be held in November 2014 and she once also revealed that she would take Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy with her during the Prism tour. Note that Keith is Katy’s tattoo artist and we would expect to see a Prism-inspired tattoo this year!
